Navy Ship Tour This tour will show you the inner workings of Canada's warships. You will see where the sailors live on board, the bridge and many other parts of the ship. Come out for this maritime experience.

Navy Simulation Interactive Session Experience hands on operation of a navy ship as you take part in a working training simulator

TechTour #3

Wednesday October 22nd , 1:30 am to 3:30 pm

Multi-Modal Halifax-Dartmouth Tour - Using a variety of modes, HRM will demonstrate modal integration through first-hand experience. Walk, cycle, take transit, and the ferry through Halifax and Dartmouth

This tour will highlight the modal integration elements of HRM's transportation system while providing you with an on-the-ground HRM experience.

1:10 pm Departing from the Marriott we’ll use the indoor pedway system to get to Scotia Square, the main downtown transit terminal. Option: Bicycle from Marriott up to Brunswick Street and across the Macdonald Bridge bikeway.
1:23 pm Take Route 1 Bus to Macdonald Bridge
1:35 pm Get off the bus at the Halifax end of the Macdonald Bridge. From here we’ll walk 1.5 km across the bridge. The bridge walk provides panoramic views of the harbour and the downtowns of Dartmouth and Halifax. You’ll also walk past the Bridge Terminal, a busy transit terminal that is in the process of being expanded.
2:07 pm Take Route 159 Bus to Portland Hills. This is the MetroLink express transit service that began operating in 2005 as part of Halifax’s Urban Transportation Showcase Program Project. You should see some transit queue-jumping lanes along this route.
2:20 pm Arrive at Portland Hills Transit Terminal. This is our first small-scale attempt at transit oriented development. The area to the south was developed through a master planning process with commercial and higher density development at the transit terminal, with the remaining single family residential lining a collector road transit loop. The park-and-ride function has been very successful and the lot which was expanded soon after it opened is once again at capacity.
2:37 pm Take Route 165 Bus to Woodside Ferry Terminal. This MetroLink route provides a non-stop trip from the transit terminal to the ferry terminal.
2:52 pm Board the Woodside Ferry to Downtown. Traditionally a one-direction commuter route, this ferry now carries traffic in two directions thanks to a major community college facility that opened last year on the Dartmouth side.
3:04 pm Arrive Downtown Ferry Terminal. From here it’s a three minute walk back to the Marriott.

TechTour #4 - This Tour has been incorporated into Tech Tour #3

Wednesday October 22nd , 1:30 am to 3:30 pm

Metrolink Tour - Take a tour on HRM's wildly successful Metrolink service - a limited stop BRT system. This tour will highlight the key elements of the Metrolink system. Participants will learn about an Urban Transportation Showcase Program success story as they tour the Metrolink route.
